Bank of Canada Cuts Rates: What It Means for Buyers & Sellers

Bank of Canada Cuts Rates - What It Means
The Bank of Canada has lowered its benchmark rate to 2.5%, the first cut since March. The move comes as inflation continues to ease and the economy shows signs of slowing, though the Bank made it clear they’re not expecting a recession.
For Buyers:
Lower rates mean slightly cheaper borrowing costs and improved affordability. But with more people able to qualify, competition in the market could pick up quickly.
For Sellers:
A rate cut often brings more buyers off the sidelines. That can create stronger demand for listings and, in some cases, more competitive offers.
The Bank’s next decision comes at the end of October, but markets usually react faster than policy announcements. Whether you’re buying or selling, it’s worth watching how this shift affects activity in the weeks ahead.
